Whatever your own experience of homeschooling has been, it sure seems to be popular. As recently reported by BBC News, a poll of 151 local councils by the Association of Directors of Children’s Services (ADCS) shows a 38% jump in the number of homeschooled children in England.

Various reasons were apparently cited by parents for their greater tendency to homeschool this year, including fear about COVID-19, although some parents were seemingly inspired to do so by a positive experience having their children home when regular schools closed between March and July.

All in all, the ADCS estimated that as many as 75,668 children were homeschooled on 1^st October, a sizeable rise on the 54,656 recorded for the year before.
